The AIA Center will be a place to learn, share, honor, advocate and collaborate. It is an ideal collaboration-inducing environment for diverse occupants who share a reverence for beautiful architecture and the revitalization of Tampa ’s urban core. The restoration of the Historic Federal Courthouse coupled with the establishment of an urban Center that will serve as a hub for design, the arts, construction, education and commerce directly adheres to the City of Tampa’s strategy to create a “City of the Arts.”

The restoration of this grand building provides a unique opportunity for the building’s first occupants to be associated with this beautiful landmark. It is also in an ideal location, in the urban core, opposite the new Tampa Museum of Art on The Avenue of the Arts, two blocks from the current Federal Courthouse. As a mixed-use building, with more than 60,000 sq ft of useable space, there are plenty of opportunities for all types of organizations to be a part of history.

The Center will offer occupants shared spaces, unique in today’s market. The main grand courtroom will be converted to a large gallery available for events and exhibitions and there will be space available for seminars and meetings. In addition, a second Grand Entrance will be added to the East side of the building, creating an exceptional experience for guests upon arrival. All of the defining features will be historically restore, including the marble wainscot present throughout the building, the brass elevator doors, light fixtures, skylights and marble and wood floors…not common features in modern buildings!

The restoration of the Historic Federal Courthouse into the AIA Center will not only revive a historic structure, it will create opportunities for sharing and collaboration amongst the building’s occupants. We foresee a great synergy between the arts, architecture and construction, commerce, law and international exchange opportunities.
